19 August – 4 September 2022
BABEL visningsrom for kunst welcomes you to the solo exhibition THE CHAIRS by Maria Meinild.
Opening reception Friday, August 19 at 19.00–21.00
Opening hours:
Thu/Fri 16–19
Sat/Sun 12–16
Through video installation, photography and sculpture THE CHAIRS looks to investigate patterns of social behavior and the political subtext of everyday life. Several works in the exhibition are informed by psychodrama; a form of group therapy that uses elements of theater, spontaneity and the exploration of emotions and behavioral patterns through roleplay. The staging of the relationship between objects, conditions and human beings unfolds in works where the connection between individual and interpersonal relations are explored.
Maria Meinild (SE/DK) lives and works in Copenhagen and holds an MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. She has also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Among recent exhibitions can be listed: National Gallery of Denmark (Copenhagen), Galleri Image (Aarhus), Kunsthalle Exnergasse (Vienna), Kunsthal Charlottenborg (Copenhagen), Galleri CC (Malmö), Galerie Les Territoires (Montréal), and Künstlerhaus KM (Graz). She was recently awarded residency at the Delfina Foundation in London, ISCP in New York and at 18th street Art Center in Los Angeles.
The exhibition THE CHAIRS is made possible with support from Kulturrådet and Statens Kunstfond.
