Babel Visningsrom for kunst is pleased to welcome you to the exhibition Mor Barbros varmbuffe by the artist Hanna Fauske. The exhibition consists of a staged room in the form of a canteen-like café where a simple meal of warm food is served. Neither the owner of the buffet or other café staff is to be seen, but in the back room there are clear traces of their last coffee break. The environment of Mor Barbros varmbuffe is recognizable, but may differ from establishments where one usually chooses to go. The option to sit down at one of the tables and get a taste of the food is still available if you wish to do so.
Humour is an important part of many of Hanna Fauske’s projects. However, the laughter often brings with it an unpleasant aftertaste. Through video and audio work, combined with a theatrical and elaborate installation, Fauske asks questions about class affiliation and cultural preferences. Whether you want to reflect on these questions or just grab a cup of coffee while listening to fictional local radio is up to you.
The exhibition is supported by the municipality of Trondheim and Arts Council Norway.
Hanna Fauske (1988) holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Trondheim. She is a part of RAKE work community, and lives in Trondheim.
