Welcome to the opening Friday March 18 at 7 p.m and to an Artist Talk on March 31 at 12 p.m. at LKV.
Christiana Caro is a US born artist primarily making photographs. Her research combines elements of perception, collection, folk culture, and place. Each body of work is tailored to idiosyncrasies of locale while uniformly addressing landscape, cosmos, environment, and the slippages between memory and interpretation. In departing from straight documents, narrative symbols, or archival objects, her images explore all three – those moments where they come together, and fall apart again.
The World Has Turned is Caro’s newest series, being shown for the first time at Babel and opening on the weekend of this year’s Vernal Equinox.
Christiana Caro (b.1980, Washington, DC) is currently based in Seattle, WA. She received her BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (2002) and her MFA from the University of Arizona (2011). She has participated in a number of artist-in-residency programs, exhibitions, and teaching positions in the US and abroad, and was the recipient of a Fulbright fellowship (Slovakia, 2012).
