OPEN CALL for exhibitions in BABEL’s new exhibition space 2025/26!

BABEL is the longest running artist-run exhibition space in Trondheim, established by artists at Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (LKV) in 2006. After 19 years in the same premises in Mellomveien 4, we are moving BABEL into the renovated gymnasium at LKV. On this occasion, we would like to invite local, regional and international artists to send us applications for exhibitions for 2025/26.
The new exhibition space will consist of one large and airy room of 110m2 with good natural light and 6 meters high ceilings. See architectural drawings here. The opening is planned for the first half of 2025.
The exhibition honorarium is currently NOK 12,000. In connection with the exhibitions, the artists will have free access to LKV’s common workshops, where we have facilities for working with wood, metal, printmaking, photography and ceramics. In addition, we offer professional photo documentation of the exhibitions, marketing and assistance with practical arrangements as far as possible. BABEL is an artist-run exhibition space with limited resources, so we encourage all artists to apply for project support for their exhibitions.
Applications can be submitted for solo or group exhibitions, predefined projects or loose exhibition ideas. We are looking for interesting artists and ideas that can work well in the exhibition space.
We are also currently planning the opening exhibition, which will focus on the building’s former function as a gymnasium. Please let us know if you have works that you think could work in such a context.
Applications are submitted digitally via this application form with one PDF containing:
1. A brief introduction to the artist/exhibition proposal (max 350 words)
2. Portfolio (the works’ title, format, technique and year can be added directly to the PDF)
3. CV
The attachments must be combined and submitted as one single PDF file (max. 10 pages and 10 MB) via the application form. Name the PDF with BABEL25-26_lastname.pdf. Example: BABEL25-26_Garcia.pdf.
We accept applications in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and English.
The applications will be evaluated by the artists in the BABEL committee and the artistic director of BABEL.

BABEL er det lengstlevende kunstnerdrevne visningsrommet i Trondheim, etablert av kunstnere ved Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (LKV) i 2006. Etter 19 år i samme lokaler i Mellomveien 4, flytter vi BABEL inn i den nyrenoverte gymsalen ved LKV. I den anledning ønsker vi å invitere lokale, regionale og internasjonale kunstnere til å sende oss søknader om utstillingsplass for 2025/26.
De nye utstillingslokalene vil bestå av ett stort og luftig rom på 110m2 med gode naturlige lysforhold og 6 meters takhøyde. Se arkitekttegninger her. Åpningen er planlagt til første halvdel av 2025.
Utstillingshonorar ligger for tiden på 12.000 kr. I forbindelse med utstillingene får kunstnerne fri tilgang til LKVs fellesverksteder, der vi har fasiliteter for arbeid med tre, metall, grafikk, foto og keramikk. Utover dette tilbyr vi profesjonell fotodokumentasjon av utstillingene, markedsføring, enkel formidling og bistand med praktisk tilrettelegging så godt det lar seg gjøre. BABEL er et kunstnerdrevet visningsrom med begrensede ressurser, så vi oppfordrer alle kunstnere til å søke prosjektstøtte til sine utstillinger.
Det kan søkes om solo- eller gruppeutstillinger, ferdigdefinerte prosjekter eller løse utstillingsideer. Vi ser etter interessante kunstnerskap og ideer som kan fungere godt i visningsrommet.
For tiden jobber vi også med planlegging av åpningsutstillingen, som vil ha byggets tidligere funksjon som gymsal som omdreiningspunkt. Si gjerne ifra dersom du har arbeider som du tenker kan fungere i en slik kontekst.
Søknad sendes inn digitalt via dette søknadsskjemaet med én PDF som inneholder:
1. Kort introduksjon til kunstnerskap/utstillingsforslag (maks 350 ord)
2. Portfolio (verkenes tittel, format, teknikk og årstall kan legges direkte inn i PDFen)

Vedleggene kombineres og sendes inn som én samlet PDF-fil (maks 10 sider og 10 MB) via søknadsskjemaet. Navngi PDFen med BABEL25-26_etternavn.pdf. Eksempel: BABEL25-26_Garcia.pdf.
Vi tar imot søknader på norsk, svensk, dansk og engelsk.
Søknadene blir vurdert av kunstnerne i BABEL-komiteen og kunstnerisk leder for BABEL.
